Maruti India ke fast-growing EV market mein entry lene ke liye tayar hai, aur is saal March tak e Vitara launch karne wali hai. Brand ne ek entry-level electric hatchback (codenamed Y2V) par bhi kaam shuru kar diya hai, jo 2028 tak production mein aa sakti hai.

According to sources Maruti Y2V electric hatchback pehli EV hai jo Maruti ne locally design aur develop ki hai, taaki affordable market ko target kiya ja sake. Company ko lagta hai ki 5 saal mein iski production volume capacity close to 2,50,000 units tak ho sakti hai. The biggest difference is e Vitara electric SUV (codenamed YV8), jo 60kWh battery ke saath design ki gayi thi, uske comparison mein Y2V mein 35kWh battery pack offer kiya jayega. Yeh entry-level electric hatchback shayad pehle dikhaye gaye Suzuki eWX concept par based ho sakti hai.

Reports ke according Y2V ka development full swing mein chal raha hai, Infact Autocar Professional ke according yeh pata chala hai ki iss hatchback ke commercial production ka final decision (market demand, economic conditions or cost-efficiency evaluations) jaise factors par depend karega.

Six Maruti Electric Vehicles by 2031

Y2V hatchback Maruti Suzuki ke plan ka hissa hai, jisme wo FY2031 tak 6 EVs launch karenge, jo different segments ko cater karenge, hatchbacks se leke SUVs tak. Decade ke end tak, Maruti Suzuki expect kar rahi hai ki unki total sales ka 15 percent comes from EVs. Pehli EV jo sale par aayegi, wo hai e Vitara electric SUV and its launch is due in March 2025.

Maruti's mass-market EV will be the Y2V hatchback

Y2V project Maruti Suzuki ki strategy ko define karta hai jisme wo entry-level EV segment mein enter karna chahte hain, taaki Tata Tiago EV aur MG Comet jaise cars se competitors ko tuff fight de sake. Small battery cost efficiency ko ensure karti hai aur urban Indian consumers ki needs ke saath align karti hai, jo mostly short commutes pe rely karte hain. Yeh approach Maruti Suzuki ko edge deti hai in terms of affordability aur functionality ka balance banane mein, jo India mein purchasing decisions ko influence karte hain.

Maruti Suzuki ka aim hai apni position ko internal combustion engine (ICE) market mein leverage karke electric mobility mein apni strong presence establish karna. Y2V ke liye, Maruti Suzuki scale, affordability or reliability ko combine karne ki koshish karega, jisme wo battery technology, streamlined production aur practical design par focus karega. And not just that, company yeh bhi understand kar rahi hai ki supporting infrastructure ki zarurat hai aur wo EV charging network ko expand karne ke liye partners ke saath collaborate karenge, so that adoption aur smooth ho sake.
